September/October 2007 - Rakett hosts Curating Degree Zero in Bergen, Norway
Rakett will host the archive 'Curating Degree Zero ' which is an exploration of critical and experimental approaches to curating contemporary art.
We are going to activate the archive through a series of events where invited international guests; artists, curators, musicians, philosophers and architects, amongst others, will be present and give lectures, participate in debates and concerts. We are also planning to commission two re-enactments from performative works from the archive.
In the period of 3 weeks, September 20th to October 13th, Rakett will have the archive as our extended plattform, and wish to take part in a public discussion around the expanding field of art and curatorial collaborative practices.
In collaboration with the architect Jon-Martin Kolsnes we are developing and building a mobile unit from where the archive and the events will be present on several locations within the municipality of Bergen City.
List of participants and guests will be posted through the summer.
A
bout the archive:
Curating Degree Zero was launched to research, present and discuss changes in the practice of freelance curators, artist-curators, new-media curators and curatorial collaborations. Beginning in 1998 with a three-day symposium and an ensuing publication, the project now focuses on an expanding archive about these practices, which is touring as an exhibition, accompanied by a programme of live events and discussions.

Rakett participated at 'MC Messen - An art fair for artist run spaces and collaboratives anno 2007', located at Teatergarasjen, Bergen Norway.
In collaboration with Søssa Jørgensen (from BallongMagasinet), we created 'Radio kongo - Studio Stand' , a live radio-studio that during 3 hours got put together as a program consisting of an combination of live interviews and pre-recorded material. that was locally live-transmitted in the space of the fair. Our 'Studio Stand', was a 'studio- satellite' to the 'Radio Kongo' which is the local radio channel in the village of Sørfinset, Gildeskål. The radio channel is activated as a part of the ongoing project 'Sørfinset Skole'' in Nordland, which is partly run by Jørgensen in collaboration with Geir Tore Holm, Rirkrit Tiravanija and Kamin Lertchaiprasert.
The whole program including the live recordings from 'MC-Messen' will be available on a 90 min cassette in end of 2007.

18. february 2007 | Rakett presents 'Stamp-Inn kino'
After many requests and invitations from eager film-fans, Rakett decided to make an follow- up to our outdoor cinema 'Kjørinn Kino' (2005) in the village of Sørfinset in Northern Norway. This time we initiated the 'Stamp-Inn kino' which is untranslatable at this point, but could mean something like an 'Bathtub-Inn cinema'. Outside of the old school building where the project Sørfinset Skole/Nordland is located, we installed an outdoor Bathtub, two Lavvo's and a 'Hikki', the tent sauna by the artist Per Enoksson. From these different locations one could watch the program consisting of artist videos and feature films introduced live from the film-booth by Karolin.
An excerpt from the program:
Art videos:
Moscow by Mai Hofstad Gunnes,
www.menwithoutqualities.com by Arne Vinnem
Adrift by Inger Lise Hansen
Feature film:
The Adventures of Iron Pussy by Apichatpong Weerasethakul

SKATV from Oslo is also invited to produce some reportages from the Rakett Satellite in Murmansk and also the different projects at Barents Spektakel in Kirkenes. Continuously updated interviews and reportages made during the festival will be screened on monitors in the city of Kirkenes. Their participation is based on their brand new gadget: the SKATV SOUNDSYSTEM!
SKATV SOUNDSYSTEM is a portable big-time ghettoblaster on wheels. Inspired by Jamaican reggae culture. They built this powerful system exclusively for reggae/dub music on audiomixtapes. Made out of rain-forest wood from the much disputed National Museum pavilion, it contains a 115 Ah 9 v battery, to 3-ways 10 inch speakers and a 200 w active subwoofer. Mounted on wheels it can be situated on the beach, in the park, on the parking lot or in your neighbors garden. During the Barents festival it will function as a mobile TV studio.
Rakett goes to Barents with support from:

8 - 16 November 2005 Rakett research trip to Murmansk and Kirkenes
Due to an invitation from Maria Rusinovskaja at the Murmansk Art Museum, we went on a trip to the Northern parts of Norway and Russia. We wanted to explore and investigate the city and the northern area, to come up with some ideas to the proposed exhibition at the museum. On our visit in Murmansk we focused on meeting young artists and musicians, and hopefully build bridges for exchanging ideas and for further collaborations.
In Kirkenes we met Pikene på Broen and discussed and developed ideas for the upcoming Barents Spektakel, the annual festival up north.
